2027 Nissan Z Revealed: Manual Nismo, Smarter Aero, and Real Driver Upgrades
The Nissan Z is back for 2027 with a focused refresh—and this time, the changes go deeper than just a facelift.
Headlining the update? A long-awaited manual transmission for the Nismo, improved aerodynamics, and subtle but meaningful performance tweaks across the range.
A Cleaner, Smarter Front-End Design
At first glance, the 2027 Z looks familiar—but the details tell a different story.
Up front, Nissan has reworked the bumper with smoother, more refined lines, moving away from the sharper edges of the current car. There’s also a completely redesigned grille, now featuring horizontal elements and a body-coloured bar.
These aren’t just cosmetic tweaks either. The updates help reduce drag and lift while improving airflow, giving the Z better stability at speed.
A new “Z” badge replaces the Nissan logo on the nose, while fresh 19-inch forged wheels and new paint options—including Shinkai Green—add a modern touch.
Interior Gets Small but Smart Upgrades
Inside, the updates are subtle but practical.
The biggest addition is a new Qi2 wireless charger, offering magnetic alignment and faster charging for modern smartphones.
Performance and Nismo models also gain new trim options like tan upholstery, lifting the cabin’s overall feel. Otherwise, the layout remains familiar—with a digital cluster, infotainment system, and Bose audio still in place.
Performance Tweaks You’ll Actually Feel
Nissan hasn’t touched the core powertrain—but it has made improvements where it counts.
A new fuel tank design helps maintain fuel flow during high-G cornering, making the car more consistent on track.
Meanwhile, the Z Performance benefits from larger shock absorbers, improving ride quality and delivering more predictable handling.
It’s the kind of under-the-skin refinement that doesn’t grab headlines—but absolutely improves the driving experience.
Nismo Finally Gets a Manual
This is the big one.
For 2027, the Z Nismo finally gets a six-speed manual transmission, developed specifically for the flagship model—not just carried over.
It features:
- An upgraded clutch
- A shorter shift throw
- A more mechanical, direct feel
Nissan has also retuned the engine for sharper throttle response with the manual, while tweaking sound systems to enhance the driving experience.
And it doesn’t stop there.
The Nismo also gains:
- GT-R-derived brake components with better cooling and reduced weight
- A retuned suspension setup
- A revised steering rack with 20% less internal friction for smoother, more precise cornering
Same Power, Better Execution
Power figures remain unchanged:
- Standard models: 400 hp
- Nismo: 420 hp
But with the added chassis, braking, and transmission upgrades, the 2027 Z is less about more power—and more about using it better.
As of now, New Zealand pricing hasn’t been confirmed, and there’s no official word on local arrival timing. Expect details closer to launch.
