Ford Transit Sets New Benchmark With ANCAP PLATINUM Safety Grading

ANCAP has released its latest round of Commercial Van Safety Comparison results, with the full-size Ford Transit achieving a PLATINUM grading and an exceptional overall collision-avoidance score of 93%. This makes the Transit the highest-scoring NB-category van ever assessed, surpassing previous results from other major commercial vans on the market.

This new grading builds on Ford’s growing reputation for safety leadership. With the Transit Custom also holding a PLATINUM grading in the smaller van class, Ford now leads both the NA and NB categories, providing fleet operators and business owners with unmatched confidence in active safety performance.

The latest Transit introduces a significantly enhanced suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), offered as standard across the range. Key features include:

  • Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) – with Car-to-Car, Pedestrian, Cyclist, and Backover detection
  • Lane support technology, including Emergency Lane Keeping
  • Speed assistance systems
  • Driver monitoring systems

These updates represent a major step forward from the previous Transit assessed in 2020, which held a GOLD grading. The leap to PLATINUM highlights Ford’s continued investment in improving real-world crash-avoidance capability for businesses that rely on safe, durable and trusted commercial vehicles.

ANCAP also awarded a PLATINUM grading to the new Farizon SV electric van, demonstrating the rising standard of safety across the commercial segment. The Farizon achieved an overall score of 84%, with strong results across most tests.
