Orange 2027 ford bronco basecamp driving offroad

Arriving in New Zealand 2027*

Ford first built the Bronco in 1966 and called it an All-Purpose Vehicle, because the category it belonged to didn’t even exist. Sixty years on, Basecamp is the first electrified Bronco.

The Bronco is an adventure-ready SUV built around a simple idea, that your vehicle shouldn’t just get you to the adventure, it should be part of it. With a super-hybrid powertrain, five-seats and all-wheel drive as standard, the Ford Bronco Basecamp is designed to feel as comfortable at a campsite on Saturday morning as it does in traffic on Tuesday.

The best spots are further out

The Bronco Basecamp runs on electric power for the everyday and calls on petrol to charge the battery when the road keeps going. Enough to chase down the spots that are further out, with a combined estimated driving range of 800-900 km (WLTP). These figures are preliminary and will be confirmed closer to the on-sale date.

Your mobile campsite

Setting up is quick. The seats fold down ready to set your bed and the table folds out of the swing gate. Plus, on Outer Banks, the roof lifts and food and drink can be stored in the front console. Wherever you stop, the campsite goes.

Space for the journey

With room for five, the interior cabin has ample headroom and reclining seats in the front and back. With premium soft finishes and modern technology, it’s somewhere you’d be happy to spend a comfortable long drive. Both rows fold down to open up the cabin space for sleeping. The custom inflatable mattress is shaped to fit the interior and will be available to purchase as an additional accessory.

What is the Ford Bronco Basecamp?

An adventure-ready SUV built around a simple idea, that your vehicle shouldn’t just get you to the adventure, it should be part of it. With a super-hybrid powertrain, five-seats and all-wheel drive as standard, the Ford Bronco Basecamp is designed to feel as comfortable at a campsite on Saturday morning as it does in traffic on Tuesday.

What makes it different to other SUVs?

It was designed and engineered for an adventure experience, rather than starting with a driving platform and adding outdoor features later. The roof, the interior layout, the rear door and the power system were all designed around one question: what does this need to do when you’re staying the night?

How does a super-hybrid powertrain work?

Vehicles with super-hybrid powertrains are also described as Extended Range Electric Vehicles (EREVs). This means this vehicle is a type of plug-in hybrid that combines dual-motor electric driving (usable 49kWh battery) with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that acts solely as an on-board generator. You get the responsive feel of an electric vehicle and a combined estimated driving range of 800-900km (WLTP).93 These figures are preliminary and will be confirmed closer to the on-sale date.

Can you sleep in it?

Yes, you can sleep in this vehicle. Both the front and rear seats fold down. The cabin converts into a sleeping space without having to take your luggage out.

Can it power a campsite?

Pro Power OnboardTM 94 with up to a maximum 6.6kW draw on the drive battery, so you can run high-draw appliances like an induction cooktop, a kettle or an espresso machine through the integrated outlets or the available external adaptor (accessory available at additional cost).
