Paddon Targets More Success at Gippsland Rally

20 August, 2025

Hyundai New Zealand ambassador Hayden Paddon and co-driver John Kennard are gearing up for another tough challenge in the 2025 Australian Rally Championship (ARC) as they take on the Middle of Everywhere Gippsland Rally this weekend in Victoria.

The Kiwi pairing head into the event in strong form, fresh from a commanding win at Rally Queensland and leading the ARC standings. Driving the Hyundai i20 N Rally 2, Paddon and Kennard will once again line up against reigning champions Harry Bates and Coral Taylor in what promises to be another fierce trans-Tasman showdown.

The Gippsland Rally, held 22–24 August around Heyfield’s forestry roads, is the ARC’s first endurance-format round of the season. Known for long stages, rugged terrain, and unpredictable conditions, the event is set to test both consistency and stamina.

“Hayden continues to show why he’s one of the very best rally drivers in the world,” said Leighton Agnew, General Manager Sales at Hyundai New Zealand. “The endurance format will challenge every aspect of their skill and teamwork, and we know they’ll rise to the occasion.”

Paddon and Kennard arrive with plenty of momentum. Their 2024 season included a second consecutive FIA European Rally Championship title, another New Zealand Rally Championship crown, and wins on some of Europe’s toughest stages.

Looking ahead to this weekend, Paddon highlighted the unique challenges of the event. “The night stages will be a real highlight. They bring an extra challenge with visibility and pace notes, but they’re also some of the most exciting conditions to drive in. John and I are looking forward to that test.”

The Middle of Everywhere Gippsland Rally runs from 22 to 24 August and marks the fourth round of the 2025 Australian Rally Championship.
