What is a Chery Super Hybrid?
A Chery Super Hybrid (officially abbreviated as CSH) is powered by Chery’s proprietary plug-in hybrid electric powertrain that functions as an intelligent, long-range alternative to conventional plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). Unlike standard PHEVs that can suffer from reduced performance and high fuel use once their battery is flat, Chery’s hybrid system acts as a highly efficient self-charging hybrid even if it is never plugged into an electrical outlet. Do Chery hybrids need to be plugged in?
Some Chery hybrids self-charge while driving and braking, meaning you never need to plug them in (Chery Tiggo 4 Hybrid). Plug-in hybrid models can also be charged for extended electric-only driving (Chery Tiggo 7, 8 and 9).
Where can I charge a Chery Super Hybrid in New Zealand?
You can charge compatible Chery Super hybrids at home using a wall charger or at public EV charging stations across New Zealand. Your new Chery Super Hybrid comes free with a home charging cable.
What warranty does Chery offer in New Zealand?
Each New Chery vehicle you purchase comes with a 7-Year Unlimited KM Warranty, so you can drive with confidence knowing any unforeseen problems are covered. Read more.
How fuel efficient are Chery hybrid vehicles?
Chery Super Hybrids have an excellent average combined fuel consumption of 1.3L to 1.4L/100km across the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 model ranges. However, if your daily commute is under 80km–95km, you can use zero petrol. By charging the 18.3kWh battery overnight at home or via a public fast charger, the vehicle operates purely on its electric motor for everyday around-town running.*
Are Chery vehicles safe?
The entire range of new Chery vehicles sold in Australia and New Zealand holds the maximum 5-star safety rating from ANCAP.
What is the difference between a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid?
The main difference is how the battery gets charged and how far you can drive on pure electricity. While both use a combination of a petrol engine and an electric motor, they operate very differently in everyday use. The Tiggo 4 hybrid battery charges itself automatically through “regenerative braking” (capturing energy when you slow down) and from the petrol engine. The Tiggo 7, 8 and 9 Super Hybrids you can plug into a standard home wall socket, a dedicated home wallbox, or a public fast charger. It also uses regenerative braking on the move.
