MBUX: The Intelligent Interface Behind the Modern Mercedes‑Benz Experience.

MBUX sits at the heart of many current Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicles in New Zealand, bringing together displays, navigation, voice control, vehicle functions and personalised information within one intelligent system. More than simply an infotainment interface, MBUX is designed to learn from the way you use your vehicle and make the features you need easier to access.

What is Mercedes-Benz MBUX?

MBUX, or Mercedes-Benz User Experience, is the multimedia and interaction system found across much of the current Mercedes-Benz range. Depending on the model, it combines a high-resolution central display with a digital instrument cluster, steering-wheel controls and intelligent voice assistance.

Drivers can customise the information displayed and access everything from navigation and media to climate settings and vehicle functions. Display configurations also differ across the range, with selected models offering larger arrangements such as the expansive MBUX Hyperscreen.

An Interface That Adapts to You

One of the key developments in newer generations of MBUX is the use of artificial intelligence to anticipate what the driver may need. The “zero-layer” interface can bring relevant features and suggestions directly to the main display, rather than requiring you to repeatedly work through menus. Navigation remains prominently displayed, while other functions can appear when they’re likely to be useful.

Over time, MBUX can learn routines and preferences, helping reduce the steps required to access frequently used features.

Just Say “Hey Mercedes”

The “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant allows occupants to interact with the vehicle using natural spoken requests. Depending on the vehicle and available functionality, voice commands can set a navigation destination, adjust the cabin temperature, control audio and access information about the vehicle itself.

It can also answer practical questions about certain vehicle functions, such as how to connect a smartphone via Bluetooth or where particular equipment is located.

MBUX Technology Throughout the Cabin

In selected Mercedes-Benz models, MBUX extends beyond the dashboard. Available technology can include rear-seat displays for entertainment and navigation, while MBUX Interior Assistant can interpret certain movements and gestures within the cabin.

Using cameras and intelligent software, the Interior Assistant can recognise particular actions and respond with an appropriate vehicle function, adding another way for occupants to interact with the vehicle.

A More Personal Mercedes-Benz Experience

Rather than simply adding more screens and functions, MBUX brings individual technologies together and makes them easier to access. From an interface that can learn your routines to natural voice interaction, intelligent navigation and context-sensitive suggestions, MBUX continues to change the way drivers interact with their Mercedes-Benz.
