EV6 GT brings supercar performance to zero emissions motoring

The date is set. Mitsubishi Motors’ new, highly specced Express delivery van will arrive in New Zealand in September 2020, with a price tag that’s sure to turn heads.
  • Introducing the all-new Kia EV6 GT, a new performance benchmark for electric vehicles
  • The EV6 GT combines exhilarating performance and first-class long-distance travel capabilities with ultra-fast charging tech
  • A highly impressive real-world driving range for effortless cross-country touring

Building on the success of the phenomenal new Kia EV6, the GT variant will deliver previously unheard of levels of power (430kW and 740Nm), performance and charging capability when it launches in New Zealand early in the new year – all from a zero-emissions vehicle.

“The Kia EV6 GT promises to reshape perceptions of what a fully-electric vehicle can offer,” said Managing Director of Kia New Zealand, Todd McDonald.

“It’s not just a game-changer, it’s an entirely new proposition altogether.  Acceleration is immediate and continuous.  It’s supremely comfortable.  It has unheralded levels of power.  And it combines 424km of driving range with 800V ultra-fast charging tech.

“Kia has taken all the best attributes of the EV6, dialled them up and then combined them with even more new and unique technologies.  The end result is that the GT is the new benchmark when it comes to all-round touring potential.

“With unique-to-GT suspension, steering, electric motors, chassis, braking system and interior elements, a lot of the GT is totally unique to the GT model, such is the more extreme level of performance from the new model.”

The Kia EV6 GT is a vehicle which generates passion and excitement.  Key to its development was the desire to achieve explosive acceleration performance at the same time balanced by a chassis and overall driving package more than capable of harnessing that outright power.

The GT takes performance to a place Kia has never been before, with a supercar-like 0-100km/h time of just 3.5-seconds.  To complement its rapid pace, the GT is capable of rapid charging, where the battery can be replenished from 10-80% in just 18 minutes.

The EV6 GT expertly combines the power, performance and agility of a sports car with the comfort, range and ultra-fast charging capabilities befitting of a modern-day GT.

The EV6 GT’s expressive exterior design features a series of additional sporting touches and aesthetic enhancements that hint at the vehicle’s performance attributes.

These include a number of elements which are unique to the EV6 GT, including 21-inch alloy wheels, GT Green brake calipers as well as a bumper and diffuser extensions for added high speed stability.

Step inside and occupants are greeted with a focused yet comfortable space that features state-of-the-art technology designed to meet the needs of the driver and passengers, further enhancing safety, connectivity and infotainment to protect and engage at every stage of a journey.

Based on Kia’s advanced Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV6 GT delivers segment-defining performance and touring credentials.  Performance has increased significantly over the standard AWD dual-motor EV6, thanks to the installation of a new high-output rear motor that delivers a remarkable 63% increase in overall power compared to the rear motor in the standard model.

While drivers can be assured of spirited performance, the EV6 GT also delivers enhanced ride and handling characteristics for a rewarding and truly connected feel out on the road.

Performance brakes, optimised steering and reworked suspension increase control and confidence, while an updated Drive Mode Select system with a new GT Mode allows drivers to customise the driving experience.

Of particular appeal for driving enthusiasts is that the EV6 GT has benefited from a local ride and handling programme.  This has been conducted in Australia and incorporated into vehicles to complement suspension settings derived from European tests.

The Kia EV6 GT is available to order now, with local deliveries anticipated to begin in early 2023.  Potential buyers are recommended to register their interest.
