Isuzu is poised to redefine the utility vehicle landscape with the introduction of its first all-electric pickup, the D-Max EV, slated for a European release in early 2026. Signaling the brand’s commitment to sustainable innovation without compromising the tough performance that has become synonymous with the D-Max name.
Electrifying Performance Meets Proven Capability
At the heart of the D-Max EV lies a robust dual-motor setup, delivering a combined output of 140kW and 325Nm of torque. This configuration ensures full-time four-wheel drive, providing the traction and stability required for both urban commuting and off-road adventures. The vehicle’s towing capacity matches that of its diesel counterpart at 3,500kg, while offering a payload capacity of over 1,000kg, underscoring its utility credentials.
Design and Practicality
Maintaining the familiar silhouette of the diesel D-Max, the EV variant introduces subtle design cues to distinguish its electric identity. Notably, the charging port is discreetly integrated into the location traditionally occupied by the fuel filler, preserving the vehicle’s clean lines. The D-Max EV is available in both Extended Cab and Double Cab configurations, catering to a range of professional and personal needs.


Battery and Range
Equipped with a 66.9kWh lithium-ion battery, the D-Max EV offers a range of 263km, which extends to 361km under the WLTP City cycle, reflecting typical urban driving conditions. While these figures may not lead the segment, they are competitive for a vehicle of this class and purpose. Fast-charging capabilities allow for a 20 to 80% charge in approximately one hour, facilitating minimal downtime during extended use.
Enhanced Driving Dynamics
The D-Max EV features a modified ladder-frame chassis and replaces the traditional rear leaf springs with a De-Dion suspension system. This setup enhances ride comfort and handling without sacrificing load-bearing capabilities. With a ground clearance of 210mm and a wading depth of 600mm, the vehicle retains its off-road prowess, albeit with slight reductions compared to the diesel model.

Market Launch and Availability
Production of the D-Max EV has commenced in Thailand, with initial deliveries targeted for left-hand drive European markets in the third quarter of 2025. Right-hand drive models are expected to follow, with availability in the UK anticipated in early 2026. Isuzu has indicated that further rollouts will be based on market demand, but specific plans for other regions, including Australia and New Zealand, have yet to be detailed.
